The Mughal kings from Babar to Shah Jehan were all great lovers of gardens. They contributed immensely to the architectural wealth of the Subcontinent by furthering its great garden tradition. The picturesque Gardens of Shalimar are an excellent example of typical Mughal design and grandeur. It is rectangular in shape, divided into a series of parterres and terraces. Throughout its length run a system of tanks, canals, fountains, cascades, and flower beds. The native artisans who created our Shalimar Embroidered Blanket Furniture Throw depicted the geometrical patterns of the splendid Shalimar Bagh itself in their hand-embroidery.
