This White Bear Kachina Doll was made by Milton Howard, Hopi Indian, master Kachina carver. This White Bear Kachina is superb in detail. The detail is exceptional. From the fine lines of the feather work, the beaded look in the jewelry to the carving of his knuckles. The time and effort and talent is evident with every stroke of this carver. Milton uses stain to bring out the natural wood grain of the customary cottonwood root, along with paint to enhance and show more detail. He takes the time, with what you can only imagine the patience it must demand, to feature and enhance every tiny detail line, as is the remarkably small lines he carves. This Hopi Indian White Bear Kachina Doll is 15" tall, 8" wide and 5-1/4" long. Signed - M. Howard. Free Shipping does not apply to his item. Shipping for this item is $50.00. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery.

Milton Howard, master kachina carver, was born on Feb. 8, 1964 in Tuba City, Arizona on the Navajo-Hopi reservation. His father, also a kachina carver, is from the Third Mesa area, and his mother is from the Rocky Ridge area. He is married and has three children. He took up carving as a young boy, learning from other members of his family, but he was not serious about it until he was living in Albuquerque, in his early twenties, going to school to be an electrician and carving with his cousins, Jerry and Dan Bert, in his free time. He sold his dolls to his classmates, carving kachinas for orders only. At about 30 years of age he made the decision to start carving full time. His art is now found in the finest galleries around the world and because his work is extraordinary and his prices are so reasonable, many serious collectors have obtained his dolls. The intricate details symbolize a lot of his beliefs, and what he has come to know as very sacred and divine to his culture.

This Kachina Doll is authentic hand crafted Indian art created by an artist who is truly a member of a Native American tribe. So, to ensure you that this is authentic, a Certificate of Authenticity has been included with this item.
